Preliminary Exercise - Setting

Image
Setting is the time and place a scene is taken in. These characteristics are very needed in movies and film because where the setting can sometimes give clue to what the story may be about. For example, if a movie is in the mid-west its mostly going to be about cowboys and fighting for the west. Without the setting the audience would be left confused on to what did we just watch.     In this exercise me and my teammates defined the elements in Mise en scene. We used the internet to get the information to complete this assignment to know exactly where this movie was made. This assignment helped me understand the insignificance of the setting is to movies.

Mise en scene is the essence of filmmaking, its used in everything that results in the making of a movie or film etc. Its the placement of actors and scenery on a stage. Many people do it whether they know it or not. Mise en scene is important in films because it helps tell the story in a single image. Everything we see can be apart of Mise en scene. Mise en scene is a theater term for the process of deciding what to include in the scene and where it should go and how it should be placed. It shows the viewer how the scene should be played out from the inside. You can also think of mise en scene as a guide line to make sure you have everything to do a scene without Mise en scene there would be no movie. Mise en scene helps the character development as well as the development of the film.
