Preliminary Exercise 2: Barthes’ Theory Semiotic Analysis of The Hunger Games Catching Fire Table 2

 

                                                                          

During this assignment we learned about signs in our society meaning Semiology, as well as semiotics. Semiotics is an important thing to study because everything we see and hear has a meaning in it and its up to us to decode it. Signs are the smallest unit of meaning. The movie is called hunger games. We watched the trailer for this movie, the trailer was about the main character Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. They were being interviewed in front of a large crowd, they announced that they were Pregeant and the crowd were baffled because they that everyone's favorite character would not be able to play in the hungry games, this caused the audience to be mad. Another significate thing that happened was when Katniss showed her dress it went from white to black. That signifies the change in her soul. The last thing that was important in the trailer was when all the character from the game all held each others hand and that made the host begin to be aware that they were protesting and this cause the host to turn all the lights to stop viewers from seeing.

This trailer was a really good trailer it highlighted the most important thing that happened in the end of the movie. Watching this it helped up look for signs while watching something so we can interpret the sign to our meaning so we can understand better.
